Answering some questions: Liebster Award

I have been nominated for The Liebster Award by Green Goats Travel. Thank you!

LiebsterAward

I hadn’t heard of The Liebster Award until I was nominated but it seems to be a fun chain mail type thing between bloggers where you learn more about your fellow bloggers and nominate five more to keep the ball rolling!

THE RULES

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, and include a link to their blog
  • Provide answers to the eleven questions from that person
  • Give nominations to other bloggers who have less than 500 Twitter followers
  • Ask them eleven new questions
  • Let them know about their nominations, so that they can proceed with the award process

THE QUESTIONS

1. Where is the next place you would love to go?

My dream travel location is Antarctica. One of my goals is to travel to all 7 continents and all I have left is Africa and Antarctica. The farthest southern continent has a unique draw for me though and after my current 3 year adventure that will probably be my next goal.

2. If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live and what type of structure would you live in (apartment, mansion, treehouse, etc.) if money didn’t matter?

I always sad that if I ever won the lottery I would buy a small apartment in all my favorite cities around the world. That way I wouldn’t ever have to truly live in only one location. Currently my favorite cities are San Diego, Queenstown, New Zealand, and Melbourne, Australia. I can’t wait to find so many more countries I’d want to buy a little apartment in.

3. Why do you travel?

To experience new things every day and to feel the freedom of living your life the way you want. To wake up each morning knowing and believing that the possibilities are endless.

4. Do you have any specific traditions you do when you visit somewhere new?

Not as of yet but I do plan on finding a small cafe, either in the airport or in the first town when I arrive by bus, and just take a moment to survey my surroundings. This will allow me to take a deep breath, calm down my nerves and/or excitement and take stock of where I am, where I’m going, and what I’m about to do.

I also plan on buying a small pin for my backpack in every major place I travel (or at least the places I really like).

5. What’s your worst hotel/hostel experience?

I haven’t stayed in many hostels yet but probably the worst (though it’s still not that bad) was in the Daintree Rainforest in northern Australia. There were flying cockroaches in the bathrooms that would dive bomb you as you were trying to brush your teeth and one of my fellow roommates had one pee in her mouth while she was sleeping. Gross.

6. What has been your favorite country or city so far?

New Zealand. Hands down.

7. Where are you from?

I am from Auburn, Massachusetts in the United States which is about 40 minutes west of Boston.

8. Would you recommend others to visit where you are from?

There isn’t all that much in Auburn but I would absolutely recommend Boston and the surrounding areas like Cape Cod.

9. How long have you been blogging for?

Only since February of this year! I just started my travels and wanted a way to keep track of my adventures and thought a blog would be perfect.

10. What is the hardest part about traveling for you?

I’m sure I’ll have much more of an answer to this question in a few weeks but so far the hardest part is travel days. They are also so long, stressful, and exhausting.

11. What is the longest about of time you have been away from home? Do you have a “home” or are you a nomad?

I lived in San Diego, California for 8 months before I ventured back home for a quick visit. Home to me is more about the people than anything else. Massachusetts is where I grew up so I guess I could consider that home, or at least A home. Home becomes wherever I currently am or where my family is.
