It’s time for the April travel budget round up! This one is going to look a bit crazy for multiple reasons.

For one thing, I bought my Macbook Air! I’m extremely excited and can’t wait for it to come in. I did a lot of research and ended up buying a refurbished version for $866, so that’s why my “Travel items” category is so over budget. However I got $935 back from my taxes this year so that paid for the computer and I didn’t have to draw from my travel budget at all which was nice.

The “Other” category was also way over as I bought my plane ticket home, from San Diego to Boston, for $147. Plus I had to pay some money for a chiropractor (and while it may seem like an unnecessary expense trust me…for me right now it is) along with normal, everyday spending and essentials so that’s why that category is over budget.

The last category out of whack (albeit not by much) is the gas category. I think this is the first time I’ve ever gone over with gas but in my defense gas shot up like a rocket over the course of two weeks and went from a reasonable $3.60/gallon to a whopping $4.05/gallon (and that’s at the cheapest station in town…everywhere else is at least $4.20/gallon).

But luckily even though I had all these extra expenses I still managed to have about $70 in savings for the month (on top of the $650 I automatically transfer into my travel fund). I’m going to leave that little bit of extra money in my regular bank account however as I have a few more expenses to come and having some extra cash will come in handy I’m sure.
